18-year-old Annika is desperate - she missed her last chance to get her final High School degree. She has no idea of what to do now, but one thing is certain: Her parents must not ever find out about her pitiful defeat. So, Annika leaves the house early every day, pretending to go to school, but hiding from everyone in an old wrecked coach instead.

The only person she trusts in is Kai, a 19-year-old boy, who lives in one of the numerous rotten neighbourhoods of the former GDR, a few minutes away from Annika's coach wreck. Their relationship turns out to be the only truth in Annikas life, especially after she is dumped by her first boyfriend, handsome college student Uli. As time goes by, living the lie becomes more and more difficult for Annika - and there seems to be no way out.
